Weighted Ropes and World Champs: When Velites Went to The CrossFit Games

Crossfit

First of all, we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came to visit us in the Vendor Village at the 2016 CrossFit Games. To everyone who tried our ropes, to all of the athletes, everyone at the afterparty, and a special thanks to Jump Rope World Champion, Adrienn Banhegyi, for putting on an incredible show all weekend.

Watch the Velites crew in action, setting up alongside some of the biggest names in CrossFit.

We could not have asked for a better Games.

We were happily almost overwhelmed by the interest in our VRopes, especially after the sled sprint event, where the athletes were challenged to doubles using heavy ropes with heavy handles.

We arrived at the Games with some of our very own weighted handles, and it was great fun to see people giving it their best with them. Keep an eye on the Velites Sport website for details on how to get your hands on some weighted handles soon.

Velites Loves Adrienn Banhegyi

Adrienn’s mesmerizing displays of jump rope mastery take her on tour around the world, as both a solo artist, and a member of the prestigious Cirque du Soleil.

She put on a series of incredible performances over the entire weekend, and at the CrossFit Games official after party. The entire Velites team were proud to have her with us, and if endorsement from the world champ isn’t proof enough that we make some of the world’s best ropes, we don’t know what is.

Thank you, Adrienn. Check her out below.

Finally, Fraser

Second no more. Mat Fraser is the fittest man on Earth, and the fans called it. Let’s hear what the fans had to say when we asked them to give shout-outs to their favorite athletes.

Mat Fraser had an awesome weekend, securing the win before he even reached the final. A well-deserved win from an outstanding champion. And we were pleased to see Katrin Tanja Davidsdottir take the top spot for the second year in a row.

How about Josh Bridges, too? He may have ended up in 13th, which is not where he wanted to be, but after missing the Games in 2015, we think that he put on a hell of a show. His performance on the sled sprint was out of this world. It looked as though someone forgot to swap his rope out for the weighted one.

A well-deserved Spirit of the Games award for Kara Webb was fantastic to see. Next year we would love nothing more than to see Kara on the podium, and would gladly supply her with as many Velites ropes as needed to get there.

We met so many great athletes over the weekend, and had the opportunity to get our VRopes into hundreds of pairs of hands. European athlete Laura Wilber paid us a visit, and said that Velites ropes quickly became her favourite after she tried them at the Regional competition in Madrid.

“I really like the weight of it, the feedback that it gives me. . .it spins beautifully, and allows me to do things which surprise the heck out of me.”

After an action-packed few days at the Games, we rounded things off in style at the official CrossFit games after party, where we had a chance to meet even more amazing people, including some of the athletes we missed in the Vendor Village. Adrienn put on another magical show, too. Look out for that in our final video.

Once again, a huge Velites thank you to everyone who came to see us, who tried or bought a rope from us, and to the athletes and crew. Bring on the 2017 Games.
